WINNING AT THE TRACK

I have some thoughts on winning at the horses. For a long time, I have played a variety of games in
an effort to earn some money. With all that I have learned about gambling, I have learned that nothing is guaranteed.
I do believe that there are safer ways to gamble as opposed to playing to win big. I am about to determine
if this is in fact true or not. I have a belief that there is a real level of probability depending upon what you expect in
return. It is probable that you can win at the game of playing horses as long as you are able to restrain yourself from seeking
the huge gain. Having said that, I do believe that once you have learned a method that works, you are able to increase the
size of your bet; which should increase the overall amount of your gains.
In harness racing there is usually a field of 9 to 11 horses. The trick is being able to pick the winning
horse. This can be a very hard thing to do at best. I changed the my thinking. I am going to suggest that you try to find
a winner among two horses. Bet both to place, and chances are good that you will have a second place winner. Often, the amount
you win will be slightly more than the total you have bet on both horses. You also have the possibility of having both horses
pay you for this 2nd position. This would most definitely pay you a bit more than you wagered.
It is imperative that you spend some time learning the way to choose your horses for these bets. Once
you have devised a picking method, that works for you; Master It. Do not change it looking for bigger results. Refine it so
that you are not spending money unnecessarily. By this I mean that you may find that you do not win certain races using your
method. Making yourself aware of different races and layouts for races is fine tuning your ability to handicap a race; or
in other words, Master the picks. Move on to the next race. There is no point in trying to force an issue; the only loser
will be you. We want gains, so gains are what we will play for.
I am going to provide a number of methods that can be used to select horses. Your job is to practice
these methods until you find one or some that begins to show some consistent gains. Remember that you are not going to win
all the time!!! Having done this, you now are ready to approach the track(s) and begin to work on Mastering your method. All
I can do is provide ideas to you that will allow you to practice until you find a key that works for you. For this, I will
always be here. Once you have locked into your way DON’T CHANGE. The only changes you will want to make are increasing
the size of your bet; thus increasing the amount of your gain. Percentages will not change; only amounts.
There are some rules that you must design for yourself, before you start putting your hard earned money
on the line. The first rule is to be patient. Do your homework daily. This may mean spending one to two hours each day working
on your program. Please don’t be to eager. This will only hurt you financially and you may pass up the greatest opportunity
of your investing life.
The next important rule is pretty simple. How much can you afford? I know that most people that go
to the races will drop a $2.00 or $5.00 bet on a race. Most often they choose a horse to win and then they wait to see the
result. Sometimes these people win, hence they return for more action.
There are usually 10 to 14 races in an evening at the track. If you spend $2.00 per race, your bank
roll would have to be in the neighbourhood of $24.00. At $5.00 you would need about $60.00. Now we begin applying some rules.
First we will choose $5.00 as our bankroll per race; this provides $60.00 for you to spend on wagers. Now we will begin refining
some of our expertise. Harness racing has two distinct forms. Trots and Pacers. You may find that your ability to pick one
type of race is substantially better that the other. You immediately eliminate the one you are not so good at. This could
involve 4 to 6 races. You have now raised the betting amount for the balance of the races, which means that the winning amount
is going to be higher. Now you look carefully at the race types to see if anything else makes a difference. You may not have
a lot of success picking Stake Races, or possibly you just are not able to pick races where certain conditions prevail. (eg.
Retention barn, non winners of XXXX amount in the past year, claiming races etc.)
By the end of the day, you may have 2 or 3 races that you are confident of your picking methods. Now
you can comfortably wager $60.00 on two or three races, knowing that by even bringing one of them home, you are likely to
make some pretty fair money. Lets consider the that you have three races that you can bet on with some measure of confidence.
You have $20.00 per race to wager. You choose to play horses to place, which allows them two places to come in at the finish.
Usually the payout is smaller than a win payout. Lets dream a little and we will say that the second place bet you placed
on the second race paid a measly $5.50. Your $20.00 bet would have returned $55.00. Lets really dream here. You put $10.00
to win and $10.00 to place and your horse came home sporting a 7 to 1 odds. The approximate payout for 7 to 1 odds is $14.00
+ $2.00=$16.00. Your winnings based on the information from above would be $16.00+$5.50=$21.50 X 5=$107.50.
If you have been paying attention, you will have noticed that I have provided a huge amount of information
for you to work with, the majority of which is right in front of you on the program you are viewing. It is amazing how much
information is available that a lot of people never sift through. I have watched so many people just read over a page of information
and then march up to the window and by tickets on the next race. When the race is over, the discussion usually evolves into
something like, “I looked at that horse, but I just couldn’t see it in front of this one” or “You
know, I picked that one to win. See, I even marked the program but I changed my mind when I bought my ticket”. These
stories could fill a book every night. Most people at the track are swayed by the way other people are betting them. This
is not really going to have much bearing on a horse. The driver can alter the decision to some degree and these are things
that you will learn about drivers as time goes on, but the horse really can’t read so the horse will race. On a good
day, any one of the horses in the field could win; DON’T BE SWAYED BY THE CROWD.
I have said enough about the whys, whats and wherefores. It is time to begin the journey to winning

are many and they will all work, if you hunt long enough for the best one for you.
This game will liken itself
to treasure hunt with good results all around. You will find a word for your
